Assessment of flood damage to roads 'will take some time'

The Department of Transport has said it will take some time before a full assessment of the damage caused to roads and bridges by recent flooding can take place.

Department officials have told the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee that some essential repairs have already taken place.
