Tradesmen urged to help flood victims

Tradesmen were today called on to volunteer their services to help flood victims around the country.

Plumbers, builders, carpenters and electricians are needed to work in homes in the Westmeath and Galway regions this Saturday.

Onlinetradesmen.com want workmen who will give their time, skills, tools and machinery for free in a bid minimise the impact of further flooding.

Ted Laverty, managing director, said he is working alongside Volunteer Westmeath on the ground in Athlone to ensure the time spent is as productive as possible.

“We are aiming to help as many flood victims as possible, with volunteer tradesmen working in their homes repairing damage and flood proofing unaffected buildings,” said Mr Laverty.

“We need as many volunteers as possible to make a difference.

“We would ask all tradesmen to give just one day of their time to help make a difference to those affected.”

Qualified tradesmen can volunteer through www.onlinetradesmen.com.
