Woman dies in Galway road accident

A woman has been killed in a crash in County Galway.

The 37-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a van on the Cliften to Westport Road at Leenane at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The woman died in the early hours of this morning from the injuries she sustained.

The road remains closed for a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
