Groups to outline reasons against child benefit cuts in Budget
Groups representing parents and children are coming together today to jointly oppose any cuts or changes to Child Benefit in December's Budget.
The National Women's Council, the Children's Rights Alliance, lone parents organisations and the Protest Against a Child Unfriendly Budget say a reduction in the payment will have wide-ranging affects.
They said families who have already been hit by unemployment and increased childcare costs can't afford any more cuts.
Head of Policy with the National Women's Council Orla O'Connor said the introduction of a means-testing system will put also pressure on hard-pressed parents.
