Clare council 'extremely worried' about flood

Clare County Council is still "extremely concerned" about the flood situation in the county but the flooding has not affected the quality of the water.

The council said that there has been no deterioration in the quality of the Ennis public water supply and the quality of water is being tested on an ongoing basis.

There has been heavy rainfall in the area this morning and there is more rain forecast before mid-week.

As a result the council is continuing the 24-hour response including the helpline (1890 252943) until further notice.

The Council wishes to remind people to avoid contact with flood waters and to check on any elderly or infirm neighbours.

Parents are asked to be particularly vigilant with children.
