Marches 'ignored' by private sector workers

A new poll published this morning has revealed that the vast majority of private sector workers ignored last week's union-organised protest against Budget cuts.

The survey of 500 people who attended the Dublin demonstration was carried out by the Sunday Independent.

It indicated that 81% were public service workers, with only 19% from the private sector lending their support.

Tens of thousands of people took to streets across the country on Friday to campaign against government plans to impose cuts in the Budget.
