Woman killed, man injured in Westmeath traffic accident

A woman has been killed and a man injured in a car crash in Co Westmeath today.

The two cars were in collision on the N52 near Clonfad just after 11am this morning.

The woman died at the scene while the man is being treated at Mullingar General Hospital.

He is said to be in a serious condition.

The road remains closed pending a technical examination.
