Ahern meets gardaí and banks in bid to prevent 'tiger kidnappings'

Justice Minster Dermot Ahern is meeting with the Garda Commissioner and representatives from the banks today for talks on the latest tiger kidnappings.

Earlier this week, former Kilkenny hurler Adrian Ronan and his family were kidnapped in an attempt to rob €3m from Bank of Ireland.

Minister Ahern says the banks "need to do more" to ensure ransoms are not paid.
