Second union boss admits job losses may be needed
A second senior union leader has admitted public sector job losses are inevitable if pay is not to be cut in next months Budget.
Earlier, Impact's Peter McLoone warned in a letter to members that cutting jobs in the public service was likely in the years ahead.
Now Blair Horan of the CPSU is also admitting that pay cannot be protected without job losses.
Mr Horan said: "Some reduction is inevitable in terms of the adjustment - the critical thing for me is not to affect pay for relatively low-paid members.
"I don't agree with Peter (McLoone) in relation to taxation. There is no solution to this crisis that doesn't address issues around taxation, particularly for higher earners."
