Labour's Deputy Leader is criticising the decision by the Department of Finance to withold documents on all communications relating to Anglo Irish Bank.

Labour's Deputy Leader is criticising the decision by the Department of Finance to withhold documents on all communications relating to Anglo Irish Bank.

Joan Burton says she sought the documents under the Freedom of Information Act, in relation to communications between the Minister for Finance, his officials and Anglo.

However, she says three out of four of all those documents were withheld.

Deputy Burton says this suggests the Finance Department is intent on continuing to draw a veil of secrecy over the events leading up to the bank guarantee scheme, and the nationalisation of Anglo.
