Six in 10 would work on after Lottery win

More than half of employees would continue working if they won the lottery, new research revealed today.

According to the survey, 62% of nine-to-fivers would still clock in if they struck it lucky.

One in two generous workers also said they would share some of their prize with colleagues.

But Alan Price of law firm and survey conductor Peninsula Ireland warned employers to be wary of jackpot-winning staff.

“Whilst many may be keen to keep their job, the motivation that they once had to do well and progress in order to achieve a higher salary will be gone,” he said.

“Money buys you time and many employees will want to spend more time with their family rather than at work.”

Sharing the winnings with other workers could also prove problematic, Mr Price added.

“It is nice to see such generosity but you should be careful about the impact that this would have on those workers receiving nothing from their colleague - will this affect their working relationship?”.

More than 400 employees from a variety of industries took part in the survey.
