Coughlan denies allegations about Labour Court job

Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan has asked the Irish Independent newspaper to correct a story published this morning which she says is inaccurate.

The newspaper claimed the minister planned to give a €150,000-a-year job to a SIPTU boss by appointment rather than through an interview process.

It claimed she wanted to appoint SIPTU vice-president Brendan Hayes to fill the vacancy of deputy chairman of the Labour Court.

However, speaking in the Dáil this morning, Ms Coughlan said no such decision had been made and the article was factually incorrect.
