Martin and Woodward discuss policing devolution
Foreign Affairs Minister Micheál Martin has held talks with Northern Secretary Shaun Woodward in London today on the devolution of policing and justice powers to Stormont.
A fresh push is currently underway to secure a financial deal to underpin the transfer, with more talks planned over the coming days.
Sinn Féin wants the move to happen as early as possible, but the DUP is insisting that adequate financial arrangements must first be put in place by the British Government.
Mr Martin said today that the devolution of policing was a significant step in the full implementation of the Good Friday and St Andrew's agreements.
He said talks on a financial package were at an advanced stage.
