Man dies after Arranmore Island stabbing
A man in his twenties has died after he was attacked and stabbed on an island off the coast of Co Donegal.
Gardaí have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with the incident. He is currently undergoing medical treatment at Letterkenny General Hospital.
At around 2.30am this morning, gardaí were alerted to a serious assault on Arranmore Island off the coast of Donegal.
They discovered a man in his mid-twenties suffering from a stab wound.
He was transferred to the mainland by boat and then rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Efforts to revive him failed and he was pronounced dead.
Gardaí arrested a 39-year-old man on Arranmore Island at around 5.30am this morning and transferred him to Glenties garda station for questioning.
He became ill during questioning and has been taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for medical treatment.
