Voting underway in Lisbon II referendum

Voting is underway across the country in the re-run of the Lisbon Treaty referendum.

The polls opened at 7am and are due to close at 10pm.

The almost 3.1 million eligible voters are being reminded to bring photo ID such as a passport or driving licence to their polling stations.

People who have not received a polling card are still entitled to cast their vote as long as they bring ID to the polling station.

The counting of votes will get underway at 9am tomorrow and the final result should be known by tomorrow evening.
