Man’s body recovered from River Lee in Cork

The body of a young man has been recovered from the River Lee in Cork this morning.

The body of a young man has been recovered from the River Lee in Cork this morning.

The 22-year-old man is believed to have got into difficulty while attempting to swim to a dinghy that was anchored in the middle of the river.

His body was taken from the water at Pope's Quay shortly after 9am this morning when the tide went out.

A post mortem will be carried out later at Cork University Hospital.
