New theatre and arts centre for Carlow

A new €18m theatre and arts centre which and aims to attract top class artistic performances will open in Carlow town today.

The Visual Centre for Contemporary Art provides a huge new gallery space while the George Bernard Shaw Theatre has 355 seats.

To celebrate today's opening there will be several art exhibitions and performances as well as a carnival in the grounds of the facility.
