Plea to use empty properties to house vulnerable tenants

Thousands of properties left empty after the building boom should be used to house vulnerable people in the rented sector, it was claimed today.

A national housing organisation maintained that the economic crisis should give the State the chance to tackle the country’s housing problems by taking over vacant properties and land-banks.
