Woman rescued from Croagh Patrick summit

An elderly woman was rescued from the top of Croagh Patrick in Co. Mayo this afternoon.

The alarm was raised at around 1pm, after the 73-year-old Canadian hurt her leg.

Mayo Mountain Rescue and the Coastguard Helicopter attended the scene, and the woman was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.

Her elderly husband, who was with her at the time, was helped off the mountain.
