O’Connell Street reopens after LUAS crash

The northbound side of Dublin's O'Connell Street has been reopened to traffic this morning following yesterday's incident when a LUAS tram and a double-decker bus were in collision.

Some 26 people were hospitalised after the crash at the junction with Middle Abbey Street.

Most had cuts, bruises or fractures, but at least two people are believed to be in a serious condition.

The tram and the bus were removed from the scene overnight and the road was reopened in time for the morning rush hour.

Separate investigations into the crash have been launched by the Gardaí, Dublin Bus, the Railway Procurement Agency and Veolia Transport, which operates the LUAS.
