Dublin to be given use of 500 bicycles

Almost 500 new bicycles will be available for use by the public in Dublin from this morning.

Dublin Corporation is rolling out its new city bike scheme today.

The bikes will be available for hire from 40 locations around the city.

The idea is based on a successful French scheme. The bicycles will be free to use for the first 30 minutes each time.

A credit card is needed to subscribe online, with membership for one year costing just €10.
