A 40-year-old man has been killed after being struck by a car in Limerick in the early hours of this morning.

A 40-year-old man has been killed after being struck by a car in Limerick in the early hours of this morning.

The accident happened on Main Street, Castleconnell at about 2.15am.

The man was rushed to Limerick Mid-Western Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at Castleconnell or Henry Street garda stations.
