GOAL welcomes Martin’s Sudan visit

The aid-agency GOAL is welcoming the Minister for Foreign Affair's decision to travel to Sudan as part of on-going efforts to secure the release of Sharon Commins.

The 32-year-old aid worker from Clontarf in Dublin was abducted from the GOAL compound in Darfur along with her Ugandan colleague Hilda Kawuki two months ago.

The Sudanese government said it has been in contact with the women who are in good health despite their ordeal.

GOAL said Micheál Martin's decision to travel to Sudan will clearly indicate the concern and seriousness with which the government is taking the situation.
