Counterfeit goods seized in Drogheda market

Gardaí have seized €250,000 worth of counterfeit DVDs and €5,000 worth of illegal cigarettes in Drogheda.

The seizures were made during a planned raid on Drogheda market at around 9am this morning.

Around 12,000 DVDs and 20,000 cigarettes were seized in total.

A number of counterfeit designer perfumes worth around €5,000 were also discovered.

Gardaí also seized seven vehicles.

Two people were arrested but were later released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The searches are part of an ongoing garda operation targeting criminal activity in the area.
