Gardaí in Dublin are investigating the discovery of suspected bomb components during a search of a house in the city centre this morning.

The area was sealed off following the discovery on Paul Street, a quiet cul-de-sac near Smithfield, on the northside of the city.

An army bomb disposal team was sent to the scene to examine the objects and quickly declared the area to be safe.

A Defence Forces spokesman said the items found at the house could potentially have been used to make explosive devices.
