Former TD Billy Kenneally dies

Former Waterford TD Billy Kenneally – the father of sitting TD Brendan Kenneally - has died at the age of 83.

Mr Kenneally was first elected to the Dáil for Fianna Fáil in 1965 and was re-elected for four further terms before losing his seat in 1982.

He went on to become a senator and also served twice as mayor of Waterford city.

He passed away at Waterford Regional Hospital last night.
