Talks on Element Six dispute to resume
Talks aimed at resolving the redundancy dispute at Element Six in Co Clare are due to resume under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission today.
Unions and management at the industrial diamond manufacturer are set to hold exploratory talks to see if there is scope for overcoming their differences.
Element Six had initially planned to lay off 370 workers at its Shannon facility, but it later negotiated a survival plan that would save more than 160 of those jobs.
The workers, however, are refusing to co-operate with the plan until improved redundancy terms are offered to those who will still be losing their jobs.
