Algae may be used as bio-fuel

A leading scientist says the answer to Ireland's long-term bio-fuel needs is in the sea.

John Bartlett from Sligo IT is part of an EU-funded consortium researching the use of algae as bio-fuel.

The BioMara project is a €6million cross-border collaboration between Scotland and Ireland.

Mr. Bartlett said using algae based bio fuel is one of the best ways to supply future energy needs.
