Stricken yacht towed to safety off south-west coast

A yacht with three people on board has been towed to safety off the south-west coast after getting into difficulty earlier today.

The Waterford-based coastguard helicopter and the Ballycotton lifeboat were launched to locate the vessel 12 miles off the coast.

The yacht had sought help after losing all power.

The 35-foot boat has now been towed safely to Ballycotton harbour.
