Second man held over fatal stabbing in Co Mayo

Gardaí in Co Mayo have arrested a second man in his 20s in connection with the fatal stabbing of Frankie Heneghan in Kiltimagh in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The man was detained this morning in connection with the murder of the 24-year-old, father-of-two.

Another man in his 20s also remains in custody after being detained last night.

Gardaí found Mr Heneghan slumped in a laneway off Main Street in Kiltimagh after being called to deal with a public order incident.

He died a short time later.

House-to-house inquiries are taking place in the area this afternoon as gardaí continue their investigation into the killing.
