Book of condolence to open for Kennedy Shriver
A book of condolence is to be opened in honour of the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics founder.
Dublin’s Lord Mayor Emer Costello will open tributes at the Mansion House tomorrow allowing people to pay their respects over the next two days.
“Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a woman of strength, vision and dedication,” Mrs Costello said.
“Her commitment and passion to enhance the lives of people living with intellectual disability led to her founding the Special Olympics which has grown from strength to strength over the last 40 years of its existence.”
Ms Kennedy Shriver was sister of the late US President John F Kennedy and Senator Edward Kennedy and dedicated her life to supporting people with intellectual disabilities, as well as the family’s political campaigns.
She died in Massachusetts aged 88.
The Lord Mayor urged anyone passing the Mansion House to add their personal tribute.
