Chef Gallagher declared bankrupt in South Africa

Irish celebrity chef Conrad Gallagher has been declared bankrupt by a High Court in South Africa.

The 38-year-old, from Co Donegal, owes almost €200,000 to two main creditors.

The debts relate to the sale and delivery of equipment to a restaurant and four cafes that Gallagher owns in Cape Town.

The chef is also being investigated by the South African department of labour for allegedly failing to register his employees with a mandatory unemployment insurance fund.
