Woman killed in road accident

A woman was killed in a car crash, gardaí said today.

The crash happened near Athenry, Co Galway, at 11.15pm yesterday. The 25-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in her 30s suffered minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

The road was closed for a time for a crash-scene investigation.
