Husband and wife car crash victims named

The husband and wife killed in a road accident which left two others fighting for their lives were today named.

Maurice and Margaret Hartnett died yesterday in an horrific crash involving a SUV and a van on the link road from Askeaton to Rathkeale in Co Limerick.

The couple, aged 61 and 59, were from Ballingarry in the county and had been travelling in the van.

The accident happened on a bend in the road around two miles from Askeaton and brings this year’s road death toll to 146.

Two men were rushed to hospital after the accident and were in a critical but stable condition.
