Council seeks to protect interest in Carroll deal
Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will reportedly move today to protect its €57m interest in a joint venture with troubled property developer Liam Carroll.
Reports this morning say the local authority has been involved in a joint venture with Mr Carroll since August 1997 to develop a science and technology park at Cherrywood in south Dublin.
The concil will reportedly ask the High Court today to declare that it owns one third of the land on which the development is planned.
It also wants to prevent Mr Carroll from being able to sell the land and to prevent his two banks from seizing the land to offset his debts.
Mr Carroll is one of Ireland's largest property developers and is currently in serious financial difficulties.
