Couple killed, two others critical in Limerick crash

A couple in their 60s have died following a two-vehicle collision on the Askeaton to Rathkeale road in Co Limerick last night.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene in the townland of Boolaglass shortly before 6pm, while her husband lost his battle for life at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick a short time later.

The couple, who were from the west Limerick area, died when their van collided with an SUV in which two men were travelling.

Both those men were critically injured in the crash.
