A 47-year-old British national wanted in the United Kingdom on child pornography charges has consented to his extradition back to England.

Today before Mr Justice Michael Peart at the High Court Colin Barlow of Rhoda Street, Burnley said that he was consenting to his surrender to the UK, where he is wanted on charges of possessing images of child pornography.

Barlow, a registered sex offender, is also wanted for his failure to comply with the requirement to inform the UK police that he intended to leave the UK for a period of more than three days.

Barlow, who was detained by gardaí on foot of European Arrest Warrant at Dublin Airport on July 19 while attempting to catch a flight to Prague in the Czech Republic, informed Mr Justice Michael Peart that he wished to be returned to England as soon as possible.

In the warrant seeking Barlows return it is claimed that following a police search on July 13 last, pornographic video images of female children were found on a mobile phone belonging to Barlow.

Attempts were made to arrest Barlow on charges of possession of indecent images but it was discovered that he had fled to Ireland sometime on July 14.

It is also claimed that Barlow poses a very high risk of sexual offending.
