Man due in court over fatal stabbing
A man is due to appear in court today over the murder of a young supermarket worker stabbed to death outside a Galway night-spot.
Kieran Cunningham, 20, was stabbed in a busy part of the city on June 3 and the suspect, a bar worker in the area, disappeared almost immediately.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in the Pearse Street area of Dublin on Monday evening and brought to Galway for questioning over the killing.
Gardaí said he will appear before a special sitting of Galway District Court this morning.
Investigators recovered CCTV footage from near the scene of the attack outside Karma nightclub which it is hoped will help identify the killer.
Mr Cunningham’s family issued a public appeal for the attacker to come forward and Crimestoppers have offered a cash reward for information that may lead to a conviction.
