Thieves damage ceiling of Waterford cathedral
An estimated €250,000 worth of damage has been caused during a break-in at a cathedral in Waterford city.
The roof and ceiling of Christ Church Cathedral are understood to have been badly damaged when a number of people gained access to the building overnight.
The church organ will also have to be repaired after getting covered in rubble.
The thieves stole an undisclosed sum of money from safes in the church.
Gardaí are now investigating the matter.
