University teachers slam Bord Snip recommendations
University teachers are calling for unions and management in the third-level sector to join forces in a concerted campaign against the Bord Snip proposals.
Last week's report from the public spending review body recommended the abolition of 2,000 third-level jobs.
The Irish Federation of University Teachers says any move to cut funding for education during a recession would be counter-productive.
It says the move would be akin to destroying seeds during a famine.
