Councillors to discuss end of acute care in Monaghan

Monaghan Co Council is holding an emergency meeting today to discuss the ending of acute care at Monaghan General Hospital.

The HSE announced last week that it will be transferring all acute and complex services from Monaghan to Cavan General Hospital on July 22.

Local residents and politicians have been campaigning against the downgrading of the hospital for some time, saying lives will be lost due to decision.

County Mayor and Fine Gael Councillor Heather Humphreys is requesting that all councillors attend this evening's emergency meeting to discuss the situation.
