Man due in court over fatal attack in Dublin

A 32-year-old man is due before Dublin District Court this morning charged in connection with a fatal assault on a woman in Dublin city centre last week.

The man was arrested in the Clondalkin area yesterday.

The victim, a 31-year-old woman, was attacked in broad daylight near the Rotunda Hospital on Parnell Square last Thursday afternoon.

She was taken to Beaumont Hospital, but lost her fight for life yesterday.

Gardaí believe the incident may have been video-recorded on a mobile phone and they have appealed to the person who has the recording to come forward.
