Youth found unconscious in street

Police in the North were today trying to discover how a teenager suffered serious head injuries in Craigavon.

The 17-year-old youth was found lying unconscious in the street in the Meadowbrook area shortly after 3am by a passer-by who raised the alarm and called the police and the ambulance service.

He was detained in the Craigavon Area Hospital where his condition was described as serious.

A police spokeswoman said it was unclear whether the teenager and been the victim of an assault, had been hit by a vehicle or had fallen.

Police appealed for anyone in the Meadowbrook area around at the time or with any information to contact them.
