A three-foot snake could be slithering around the streets of Dublin today after it vanished in a house burglary.

The bull snake, which is green in colour with black spots on its back, was either taken or escaped from the owner’s home in the North Strand area between 8.15am and 5.45pm yesterday.

Gardaí said the reptile is not venomous, but stressed that if it is cornered the snake will strike out to defend itself and may cause injury.

Officers at Fitzgibbon Street garda station have appealed for information.
