A woman died in hospital today after a fire swept through her north Dublin home.

A woman died in hospital today after a fire swept through her north Dublin home.

The victim, who was in her 60s, was critically injured when a blaze broke out at an address at Offington Lawn, Sutton, shortly before 11pm yesterday.

Dublin Fire Brigade said four units attended the fire at the dormer bungalow.

The woman was taken from the house by firefighters and treated at the scene by paramedics before she was taken to Beaumont Hospital where she later died.

Gardaí have sealed off the scene for a forensic examination to establish the cause of the blaze.

A post mortem is due to be carried out on the woman later today.
