Public urged to give blood

Today is annual World Blood Donor Day.

To mark the event, the Irish Blood Transfusion Service is holding a number of donor award ceremonies around the country, in honour of their regular donors.

The organisation is also launching its summer campaign today, to highlight the importance of blood donations and to encourage more people to give blood regularly.
