Climate change demonstration planned for Dublin today

More than a thousand people will take to Sandymount Strand in Dublin at noon today to spell out their message on climate change to the Government.

The participants will be choreographed into the shape of an egg-timer to show the urgent need for action to bring down our greenhouse gas emissions.

The event is being run by the Stop Climate Chaos group, which is made up of a number of Irish charities.

Lizzy Noone from Oxfam says it’s about giving a clear message to that action is needed soon.

"We're actually forming a human climate countdown. So people will be holding either a red sign or blue sign and we're recreating a giant large egg timer to give a clear message to the government that we need to take action on climate change now.”

Those who turn out will also be organised in such a way as to spell out the words ‘act now’ and ‘six months’.
