Plane makes emergency landing at Shannon Airport

A plane carrying 285 passengers has been forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport.

The aircraft involved is the same model as the Air France plane which crashed into the Atlantic off Brazil last week.

The Airbus A330 was on its way from Rome to Atlanta when it was forced to divert to Shannon due to technical problems.

The Northwest Airlines flight landed safely at 1:10pm and no one was injured.

The technical problems have since been fixed and the plane is back on course to the US.
