Ganley concedes in North West
Libertas candidate for Ireland North West Declan Ganley has this evening conceded defeat.
He arrived back at the count centre in Castlebar shortly before 7pm, and said that he accepted the people did not support his bid for a mandate in Europe, and that he could take ‘no’ for an answer.
Ganley was in fourth place on 67,000 first-preference votes in the three-seat constituency, behind Fianna Fáil's Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher, Fine Gael's Jim Higgins and to the Independent candidate Marian Harkin.
