Viable bomb found in Offaly garden declared safe
A viable bomb found in the garden of a house in Co. Offaly today has been made safe.
The Army Bomb Disposal Unit was called to the scene at Arden View in Tullamore at around 3pm this afternoon. A number of people were then evacuated from nearby houses.
The device was initially thought to be a hoax, but on further examination was declared viable.
The device was disabled, and the scene was declared safe.
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the incident.
